Discharge Opening Of Jaw Crusher

With the continuous wear of the jaw plates, the discharge opening of jaw crusher will gradually increase. In this case, the final products size will get coarser. In order to balance the load of jaw crusher reasonably and to ensure the final products size meet requirements, we should check and adjust the discharge opening regularly. And according to the specific production condition, we should check and adjust the discharge opening about 3 to 4 times each week. In this article, we mainly talk about the check and adjustment of discharge opening in jaw crusher.

Jaw Crusher Discharge Opening Check

Generally, the check of jaw crusher discharge opening can be carried out through lead ball (or lead block). In order to hold the lead block conveniently, we can cast it into a small ball or cylinder. And cast the iron wire into the occlusion of the lead ball so that we can carry it and put it into the crushing cavity. When the movable jaw plate occludes the lead ball, we can pull the ball out from the crushing cavity and measure the squeezed thickness by caliber rule. The squeezed thickness is the width of discharge opening. And if the measured width is not agreed with the required size, operator should adjust the discharge opening.

Attention: the check of discharge opening should be carried out with no-load.

Jaw Crusher Discharge Opening Adjustment

There are two kinds of adjusting devices in jaw crusher, one is gasket adjusting device and the other is wedge adjusting device.

1. Gasket Adjusting Device

Put a set of gaskets with same thickness between the back wall of frame and wedge, and we can adjust the size of discharge opening by changing the thickness of gaskets. If we add the thickness of gaskets, the size of discharge opening will reduce. And on the contrary, if we reduce the thickness of gaskets, the size of discharge opening will increase. This adjusting device can achieve multi-stage adjustment and it is convenient to operate. But when we adopt this device to adjust the discharge opening of jaw crusher, we must stop the machine first. What's more, this device is generally used in medium or large scaled jaw crusher, especially for simple pendulum jaw crusher.

2. Wedge Adjusting Device

This device is to regulate the discharge opening through the relative move of the two wedges between the toggle plate seat and the frame. Turning the nut on the bolt to make the adjust wedge moves up and down along the back wall of the frame and then this will drive the front wedge move forward and backward. The force produced by the movement will drive the toggle plate or the moveable jaw to regulate the discharge opening. This device is generally used in medium or small scaled compound pendulum jaw crusher.
