The whole silica sand mining process generally includes the following steps: crushing, grinding and separation. In the crushing process, the raw materials firstly sent into the jaw crusher for the primary crushing, if necessary, the crushed materials will enter in the impact crusher or sand making machine for further crushing. Then the minerals enter into the ball mill or grinding mill to be grinded. Next is the separation process. The separation process can be divided into flotation separation, gravity separation and magnetic separation.
Gravity Separation
According to the different minerals density in the silica sand, gravity separation is used to remove the heavy minerals to lower the iron content.
Flotation
The flotation process is primarily used to remove the iron bearing heavy minerals in silica sand. The minerals are generally the same as the iron bearing minerals described in the gravity section. At times, flotation can also be used to remove mica.
Magnetic Separation
In silica sand mining process, various magnetic minerals are involved in it. We can use the magnetic separator to eliminate the undesired materials.
